Synergy Adult & Pediatric Rehab Facility Opens

SynergyBrownsville, Texas-- Monday, February 16, 2009 marked the Grand Opening of Synergy, an outpatient rehabilitation facility providing a variety of clinical services to adults, geriatrics and children previously unavailable to the Brownsville community. Run by 3 women with a combined 46 years of experience, Synergy recognizes a need for improved rehabilitation services and flexible healthcare options for all patients despite their economic conditions.

Synergy- A Center for Neurological Rehabilitation in the area.

Neurological conditions, such as diabetes, Parkinson’s Disease, coronary conditions and other movement disorders are rampant in the area and are a major cause of strokes. In the past, neurological conditions were scarcely rehabilitated, leaving patients to live with poor quality of life. Synergy strives to rehabilitate patients with related disorders and allow them once again to be functioning, active citizens of the community.

Synergy will also be the first facility in the area to offer an extensive Vestibular, Balance and Back Clinic.
Synergy boasts a State of the Art Facility, including:

  • 5,200 sq ft facility in the heart of Brownsville
  • Private treatment rooms
  • Spacious gym
  • Separate pediatric gym
  • Heated pool with a chair lift
  • Shower, locker for men and women
  • Kid-friendly & wheelchair accessible
  • Close to a variety of medical office buildings, hospitals
  • Cutting edge equipment (Featuring Brownsville’s first underwater treadmill)

Synergy focuses equally on Adult, Geriatric and Pediatric care.

The majority of outpatient facilities in the Brownsville area specialize in either adult/geriatric or pediatrics, but rarely both. Synergy encompasses all demographics. Care includes:

  • Physical Therapy
  • Occupational Therapy
  • Speech Therapy

Synergy provides competitive rates and makes healthcare possible for citizens of all economic standing. Synergy believes that scarcity in finances should not hinder anybody from receiving quality rehabilitative services. We accept: Medicare, Medicaid, Private Insurance, Private Pay patients and Special Charity Programs to qualified patients.

Peg Corwin - AMEX/SCORE EVENT — Chicago
Aimee Kirkconnell

From the AMEX/SCORE Chicago Speed Coaching Event 3-26: AMEX and SCORE Chicago jointly sponsored a speed coaching for small business owners last March 26th. Here’s what several attendees had to say about it, and some pictures:

Aimee Kirkconnell of Akaro Graphics said: “Iain Lopata’s workshop on Achieving Business Success Online was full of useful tips that will help my small business make the most of its online presence. My questions about finance, taxes, and hiring employees were all answered in the one-on-one counseling session with William D. Broderick. Having the opportunity to sit down with a CPA in an informal setting helped me understand more about how to expand my business and focus my vision for the future.”

Meals on Wheels — Austin - Commercial Texas Newsletter
Aimee Kirkconnell

Commercial Texas has joined forces with more than 3,000 volunteers who help Meals on Wheels provide hot, nutritious meals to people who are homebound or who can no longer cook for themselves. These volunteers serve over 1,800 worthy Austinites on a daily basis. As the late Ann Richards, former governor of Texas, once said, “Meals on Wheels brings not only food but proof that we live in a caring community.” The management and staff of Commercial Texas are honored to be part of such a caring organization. “It just makes us feel good to help,” said Broker Assistant Aimee Kirkconnell. “It’s nice to take some time out of our hectic schedules and do something meaningful and worthwhile.” Meals on Wheels makes it convenient for companies to participate by allowing volunteers to take turns delivering. Every Friday two or three staff members, from brokers to interns, leave the Commercial Texas office to deliver meals, following a convenient route that allows them to complete their mission during their lunch hour. Intern Seth Koschak said, “It’s a great feeling to see how appreciative the recipients are. I enjoy hearing their stories and making them laugh.” The volunteers say they have all become very fond of their “regulars,” and enjoy recounting their Meals on Wheels experiences with coworkers. Intern Max Reinbach has even been known to take time to feed Ms. Mattie’s cats. “Simple gestures of kindness are cherished by these seniors,” Kirkconnell said, “and helping them gives us a sense of pride.” The Meals on Wheels program came to Austin in 1972 with eight volunteers who cooked and delivered meals to 30 elderly homebound people. Today they deliver approximately 880,000 hot meals per year.
